Crowdfunding Initiative for Sonoma County’s WIMP Web Design Community

I am a member of the Web and Interactive Media Professionals group in Sonoma County, California. Our group facilities networking and support for people throughout Northern California. We have launched a new crowdfunding campaign. Here are some details that were forwarded to me by Melissa Geissinger, one of the organizers. You can check out our Meetup and Facebook pages if you want to learn more about the group before donating.

Web & Interactive Media Professionals (WIMP) is a Sonoma County trade group founded in April of 2011.
WIMP helps professionals stay sharp and find work as well as helping students into the industry. With 70 events
under its belt and over 500 members, WIMP is growing up.
In 2012, WIMP ran the North Bay Web Conference, the only web technology conference in California north of San
Francisco, as well as WIMPcamp, its unconference companion. In 2013 we ran WIMPgives, a charity hackathon in
which teams of volunteers built websites for five local nonprofits in a single day.
We have begun working with local schools and economic development organizations to further our mission to
connect and educate. Further, there is interest from people across the country in forming their own WIMP chapters.
Now WIMP is laying a foundation to prepare for the next leap and conducting a crowdfunding campaign to make it
happen. WIMP is raising $15,000 to underwrite our incorporation as well as begin recording and livestreaming our
With your help, we can share WIMP’s unique approach to community, described by one member as “a local LinkedIn
that doesn’t suck.” Let’s bring WIMP to the world!
